Surfaces: Light & Shadows On Urban Walls

My paintings capture the dynamic interplay of light and shadow cascading across urban walls.

The surfaces serve as a canvas for expansive, minimalist abstract color fields; where bold, simplified hues contrast and harmonize with subtle gradations of light.

The explorations of light and shadow, emphasise their raw texture and geometric forms. By focusing on the stark contrasts created by natural lighting, I reveal subtle variations in tone and hue across the surface.

Color theory is integral to my work. The often monochromatic or limited color palettes of these walls serve as a backdrop for experimenting with spatial depth and visual rhythm.

Through careful observation of the interplay between illuminated and shaded areas, I distill complex urban environments into simplified, abstract compositions that highlight the dynamic relationship between light, shadow and minimal color.

This approach transforms everyday architectural elements into poetic studies of form and perception.

The intent of my paintings is to invite introspection and create a sense of tranquility in the viewer.

Each painting is original and hand painted using oil and cold wax on prepared archival paper. The paintings have a soft lustre finish due to the natural beeswax used in the paint mixture.

Paintings have a one inch unpainted border and can be matted and framed or mounted to a hardwood surface and  trimmed. The oil painting does not need to be framed behind glass.

All my work is signed with a personal monogram on the front as well as a signature on the back.
